The Resurection According to St. Matthew (in English)

Chapter 28

1 After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. 4 The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men. 5 Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you." 8 Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce 5 this to his disciples.

9 And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."

11 While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened. 12 They assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13 telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.' 14 And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy (him) and keep you out of trouble." 15 The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present (day).

16 The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. 18 Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go, therefore, 12 and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

Eu chamei do Egito meu filho (Os 11,1).

choro e grandes lamentos:
é Raquel a chorar seus filhos;

The Birth of Jesus According to St. Matthew (in English)

1. The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2. Abraham begat Isaac;
    and Isaac begat Jacob;
    and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3. And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar;
    and Phares begat Esrom;
    and Esrom begat Aram;
4. And Aram begat Aminadab;
    and Aminadab begat Naasson;
    and Naasson begat Salmon;
5. And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab;
    and Booz begat Obed of Ruth;
    and Obed begat Jesse;
6. And Jesse begat David the king;
    and David the king begat Solomon of her [that had been the wife] of Urias;
7. And Solomon begat Roboam;
    and Roboam begat Abia;
    and Abia begat Asa;
8. And Asa begat Josaphat;
    and Josaphat begat Joram;
    and Joram begat Ozias;
9. And Ozias begat Joatham;
    and Joatham begat Achaz;
    and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10. And Ezekias begat Manasses;
    and Manasses begat Amon;
    and Amon begat Josias;
11. And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren,
    about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12. And after they were brought to Babylon,
    Jechonias begat Salathiel;
    and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13. And Zorobabel begat Abiud;
    and Abiud begat Eliakim;
    and Eliakim begat Azor;
14. And Azor begat Sadoc;
    and Sadoc begat Achim;
    and Achim begat Eliud;
15. And Eliud begat Eleazar;
    and Eleazar begat Matthan;
    and Matthan begat Jacob;
16. And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary,
    of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
   17. So all the generations from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon [are] fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ [are] fourteen generations. 18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19. Then Joseph her husband, being a just [man], and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 20. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

   23. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

   24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

The Lord's Prayer (in English)

from The Gospel according to St. Matthew
The Holy Bible: King James Version.
Matt 6:5-15

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
After this manner therefore pray ye:
            Our Father which art in heaven,
            Hallowed be thy name.
       10 Thy kingdom come.
            Thy will be done
            in earth, as it is in heaven.
       11 Give us this day our daily bread.
       12 And forgive us our debts,
            as we forgive our debtors.
       13 And lead us not into temptation,
            but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
